Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at 10:00 AM at 
Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin for Mrs. Rita Broussard Burgess, 68, a native of 
Bayou Benoit and a longtime resident of Charenton, who passed away early Sunday 
morning, August 18, 2013, at the Franklin Health Care Center. 

Burial will follow in the Chitimacha Mausoleum in Charenton. 
Gilbert Reese and Charles Vaughn will officiate the services.

Rita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who enjoyed 
traveling and meeting new people. She will be deeply missed by her family and 
friends.

Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Larry W. Burgess of Charenton; two 
sons, John Darden, Jr. and Guy Darden, both of Charenton; three step children, 
L'Ree Minthorn of Oregon, Lance Burgess of New Mexico, and Lon Burgess of New 
Iberia; two grandchildren, Hollie Lyons and Taylor Darden; four step 
grandchildren, Marty Burgess, Jessie Burgess, William Minthorn, and Amy 
Minthorn; seven great grandchildren, Wiley Lyons, Remi Lyons, Cameryn Burgess, 
Chenoa Burgess, Ravyn Burgess, Ezrah Burgess, and Finley Burgess; as well as 
numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Desiree and Ernestine Broussard; two 
brothers, Berton and Joseph "Coon" Broussard; and one grandson, Bret Burgess.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday at Ibert's Mortuary from 
6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, and again Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of service 
at 10:00 AM.

Serving as pallbearers will be John Darden, Jr., Guy Darden, Lon Burgess, Lance 
Burgess, Marty Burgess, and Jessie Burgess.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc., 1007 Main Street, 
Franklin, LA
