Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2013/sm1308.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, August 17, 2013, at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson for Mrs. Rita Delaune Callahan, 100, a native of Jeanerette and a longtime resident of Patterson, who passed away Tuesday evening, August 13, 2013, at her grandson's and granddaughter's-in-law home in Hammond. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Patterson. Father Herb Bennerfield will officiate the services. Survivors include three children, J. Y. Callahan of Patterson, Lennis Callahan of Stephensville, and Raymond Callahan and his wife Judy of Flowery Branch, GA; seven grandchildren, Patricia Longman and her husband Cullen of Phoenix, AZ, Matthew Callahan and his wife Cathy of Broussard, Kathy Richard and her husband Shannon of Patterson, Andrew Callahan and his wife Grace of Hammond, Gayle Adams of Bayou Vista, Dana L. Davis and her husband Scotty of Berwick, and Jennifer Boudreaux of Bayou Vista; and twenty grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Yves S. Callahan; one daughter, Linda L. Callahan; one daughter-in-law, Joycelyn Cook Callahan; her parents, Alphonse and Mary Octavia Delaune; as well as seven siblings. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday at Ibert's Mortuary in Patterson from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. Visiting will continue Saturday morning at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 11:00 AM until time of Mass at 1:00 PM Serving as pallbearers will be Dustin Adams, Tyler Adams, Matthew Callahan, Andrew Callahan, Elijah Callahan, and Luke Callahan. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Grace Callahan, Mrs. Rita's granddaughter-in-law, for lovingly caring for Mrs. Rita during her final days.
