Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2013/sm1308.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Helen Laura Fouquier Liberty, born 23rd of July, 1926 to the late Bennie and Edna Fouquier, died 23rd day of August, 2013, was the much loved wife of Alan Peter Liberty and mother of Thomas Sherwin Jr. Helen was an avid gardener and lover of animals. She attended Franklin High School, Franklin LA. Post high school Helen worked for the Navy Department in New Orleans, LA during WW II. After marriage to Red Sherwin she lived in many states in the west as Red Sherwin worked in the oil fields. In 1972, after having lived in many states in the western United States, Helen returned to Louisiana where she worked and managed the Fouquier family's bakery in Franklin, La, where she honed her skills in creating divine French pastries. Subsequently she relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina where she plied her fine cooking skills in service as a fraternity house mother at North Carolina State University. After marrying Allen Liberty she relocated to Fayetteville, North Carolina where they lived for many years. Mr. and Mrs. Liberty enjoyed ballroom dancing, gardening and frequently entertained friends who were privileged to enjoy her fine creole cooking. Mr. and Mrs. Liberty relocated to Pinehurst in 2011 to live closer to her son and other family members. Helen is survived by her son Thomas Sherwin, Jr. and his wife Marilyn Wilson Sherwin, of Southern Pines, North Carolina; her grandsons Mark and Philip Sherwin, and granddaughter-in-law Stephanie Sherwin; and great-grand daughters, Kate and Olivia Sherwin, all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Helen's honor be made to Animal Advocates of Moore County, PO Box 3399, Pinehurst, NC 28374, which serves causes that were very dear to Helen's heart or to the Care Clinic, PO Box 53438, Fayetteville, NC 28305. Visitations were held on Sunday, August 25, at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines, North Carolina. Local visitations will be held Friday, August 30, at Ibert's Mortuary from 1:00 PM until time of service at 3:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 2:30 PM. She will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery. Fr. Ruben Primor will officiate the services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc ===================
