Chabert Medical Center in Houma. Alvin leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 57 years, Anna Mae Verret Metrejean of Bayou Vista; Alvin Joseph "PT" Metrejean Jr. and his wife, Dana, of Bayou Vista, Sheryll Lanclos and her husband, Glen, of Verdunville, Darlene Chauvin and her husband, Walter "Sonny" Chauvin III, of Verdunville, and Gail Cantrell and her husband, David "Pud.", of Verdunville; one brother, Rand Metrejean of Morgan City; one sister, Maggie Foret of Pierre Part; ten grandchildren and six great grandchild with two more on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Louise Guillot Metrejean; one brother, Claude Metrejean; four sisters, Annie, Frances, Mae, and Louetta; and two grandchildren. After his wife, his second love was garfishing. (Fact: Alvin and his brothers are famous for their smoked garfish) If he wasn't outdoors in his boat, he was outdoors working on his next fishing trip. Alvin was a regular customer of the Pic a Pac and Chevron, where he had to have his morning coffee over biscuits and man talk with his morning buddies. To provide for his family, Alvin worked as a dedicated Boat Captain for many local companies in the area. Following his retirement from being a boat captain, Alvin immediately took up commercial fishing which was what has always held his heart and interest. Alvin was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His family fondly remembers all the family gatherings together, always held with seafood he caught himself. Firm in his Catholic Faith, Alvin regular attended Sunday Mass at St. Bernadette Catholic Church of Bayou Vista, a place he served as Usher for many years. (While serving, he would often nudge the knees of his buddies and 'jokingly' ask for a credit card. LOL) He was a man of great character as well as a person who never met a stranger. The family requests that visitation be observed Friday, August, 30, 2013 from 6pm to 9pm with a rosary being prayed at 7pm at St. Bernadette Catholic Church Hall in Bayou Vista. The church hall will reopen Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 8:30 until time of dismissal. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11am at St. Bernadette Catholic Church of Bayou Vista. Alvin will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Catholic Church Mausoleum in Patterson. ===================
