Yolanda passed away peacefully at Teche Regional Medical Center (August 25, 2013) with her family by her side. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery in Patterson. Father Herb Bennerfield will officiate the services. Mrs. Yolanda was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who provided a loving and stable home for her family while her husband was away working. She was a wonderful example for her family in all aspects of life. She was a talented woman who enjoyed sewing, crocheting, needle work, and embroidery and many have enjoyed her handy work when she would present them with her handmade gifts. She was also a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a member of a weekly prayer group. She will be sorely missed by family, friends, and all who were fortunate to have known her. Survivors include her husband of nearly 50 years, Fred A. Parchmont; two daughters, Marjorie Parchmont and Elsa Parchmont; one grandson, José Allan Brambila; two brothers, Carlos and Luis Zapata; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and many other family members and her beloved dog, Firu. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Zapata and Enriqueta Espinosa Zapata; an infant sister, Irma Zapata; and four brothers, Manuel, Jorge, Gilberto, and Enrique Zapata. A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday at Ibert's Mortuary from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM with the rosary being prayed at 6:30 PM. Visiting will resume Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until time of Mass at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Mrs. Yolanda's name to a charity of your choice. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Fresenius Dialysis Clinic; Dr. Natalie Dishman and staff; the staff of Teche Regional Medical Center E/R, Sixth Floor, and ICU; the Eucharistic Ministers from St. Joseph Catholic Church; as well as all those who visited and called on her.
