Polk, 69, a resident of Amelia and native of Alabama went home to be with the Lord on August 28, 2013 at her residence. Helen was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to travel to many different places in the world, but her favorite was to Europe with her husband, Capt. Charles E. Polk. She adored her grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow up. Helen was such a special person and everyone who knew her loved her. She will be sorely missed. Helen is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Capt. Charles E. Polk, Army retired; two sons: Timothy Polk and wife, Ruthie of Guyton, GA and Aaron M. Polk and wife, Gina of Bayou Vista; one daughter, Cheryl Trimmer and husband, William of Morgan City; two brothers: Andy Harris and wife, Jackie of Zigler, IL and Cletus Harris of Marion, IL; three sisters: Marie Stevens of Jonesboro, AR, Elaine McGill of Zigler, IL and Ivanell Mann and husband, Lonnie of High Knob, IL; ten grandchildren: Bethany Bennett, Madison Polk, Brittany Polk, Timothy Polk-Trimmer, Hayden Polk, Patricia Trimmer Aucoin, Georgia Trimmer, Daniel Trimmer, Lillian Trimmer and Ethan Polk and two great grandchildren: Aurora Johnson and Braelie Aucoin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Medie Harris; one sister, Ozell Taylor; two brothers: Bill and Clovis Harris and her mother-in-law, Lela Polk. Visitation will take place on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Twin City Funeral Home beginning at 5pm until 9pm and will resume in Benton, Illinois at Morton and Johnston Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 starting at 9am until time of service at 11am with the Rev. Dean Severin officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service in Miners Cemetery in Royalton, Illinois. ===================
