Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2013/sm1308.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Charles "Bill" Verdun, Jr., age 84, a resident and native of Verdunville, LA died Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 1:35 am at his residence. Visitation will be Friday, August 16, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Verdunville, La., from 10:00 AM until funeral service at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church cemetery in Verdunville. Bill served as sergeant in the Army during the Korean War from 1952-1957 and was honorably discharged. He worked at Swift Ship and McDermott as an electrician for 20 years until his retirement. He also used his craft as an electrician to help those in need of his service. In his spare time, he was a substitute school bus driver. His hobbies included gardening, hunting, and he loved to cook. Charles leaves to cherish his memories; his wife, Marie Bourgeois Verdun of Verdunville, La., one son, Rodney Verdun of Franklin, La; one brother, Hayward Verdun, Sr., and his wife Patricia of Verdunville, La., one sister, Irma V. Thomas of Yeadon, PA; two grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles, Sr., and Tessie, his son, Christopher D. Verdun, his daughter, Jennifer Verdun Marlar, his granddaughter, Kristin Kay Verdun, his brothers, Cyrus, Dudley, and Earl; his sisters, Ruby Pecot, Olga "Peggy" Ennis, Margaret "Artie" Metcalfe, Edith Bissell and Ann Verdun. Bill was Catholic by faith and a devout Christian. He had a kind and generous heart and was loved by everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. ===================
