Wilson, 85, of Edmond, Okla., passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 18, 2013. She was born in Morgan City to Viola Gomez Mayon and Lenes Mayon. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Earl Mayon and Royal Mayon. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Fred Wilson; daughters, Donna, Cheryl and Marian Kay Wilson; and grandchildren, Erin Martin, Jeanette Bailey and Cameron Bailey. She was a longtime and active member of the Catholic Parish of St. John the Baptist in Edmond. She was the founding member and chair of the Welcoming Committee for many years. She volunteered generously in roles too numerous to list, including teaching catechism for 15 years, cooking for funeral dinners, creating homemade baskets for the church bazaar and assisting in the parish mailings. In addition, she custom designed and sewed a vestment for the parish priest. Her hobbies included cooking, canning, gardening, photography, sewing and travel. Always a great lady with a ready smile and helping hands, she will be deeply missed by family, friends, and the church community. A Mass and memorial service will be held in her honor at the Catholic Parish of St. John the Baptist, Ninth and Boulevard, Edmond, Okla., at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Samaritan House or Giving Tree at St. John the Baptist Church in Edmond or a Catholic charity of your choice. Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home and Cremation Service. ===================
