Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2013/sm1309.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 19, 2013, at 1:00 PM at Ibert's Mortuary in Patterson for Mr. Edison Joseph Durapau, Sr., 72, a native of Morgan City and a longtime resident of Bayou Vista, who passed away Monday, September 16, 2013, at 3:15 AM at the Patterson Health Care Center. He will be laid to rest in Ibert's Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Caleb Silvertooth will officiate the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Joseph Durapau, Edd Thornton, Jr., Tyler Thornton, Dylan Thornton, Walter Durapau, Jr., Curtis Kenney, Jr., and Walter Kenney, Sr. Mr. Edison was a faith filled, spiritual man who loved his Lord, family, and friends. In his earlier years he worked as a welder, but later went to work for himself as a commercial fisherman. His passion in life was his Lord, his family, fishing, and hunting. Scripture reads in Matthew 6:21, "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Linda Aucoin Durapau; one son, Michael Joseph Durapau and his wife Heather; one daughter, Connie Durapau Thornton and her husband Edd Thornton, Jr.; one brother, Walter Joseph Durapau, Jr. and his wife Beverly; six sisters, Nancy Jackson, Marian Kenney, Theresa Breaux, Elizabeth Ann Everitt and her husband Michael Everitt, Sr., Terry Lynn Huff, and Anna Marie Lanclos; seven grandchildren, Tyler and Dylan Thornton, Devin, Makenna, Gracie and Zechariah Durapau, and Kaitlynn Lester; one great grandchild, Aiden Thornton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Edison Joseph Durapau, Jr.; his parents, Walter Durapau, Sr. and Marie Arcemont Durapau; and two brothers, Alvin Durapau, Sr. and Loney Durapau. A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday at Ibert's Mortuary from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, and again Thursday from 9:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM.
