Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2013/sm1311.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, November 15, 2013, at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Centerville for Mr. Dewey Leo Gauthier, 75, who passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at the Amelia Manor Nursing Home in Lafayette. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 11:00 AM until the time of services. He will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors. Father Billy Ruskoski will officiate the services. Dewey was a native of New Iberia, longtime resident of Franklin and resided in Youngsville for the last 11 years. Dewey served his country in the United States Navy, serving as a Navy Seal for six years during the Vietnam War and also worked at NASA in Houston during the Apollo Flights. He was also a longtime employee of the Veteran's Administration, working as the Veteran's Service Officer for St. Mary Parish and then for Lafayette Parish. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Carolyn Boudreaux Gauthier; two sons, David Gauthier and his wife Angela, and Sam Gauthier and his wife Cyndi; one daughter, Mary Beth G. Hammer and her husband Glenn; one step son, Derek Broussard and his wife Dacia; one step daughter, Tara B. McDonald and her husband Bobby; one brother Carroll Gauthier; one sister Sylvia G. Conrad; six grandchildren, Josh and Emma Gauthier, Meryl Boutte, Christopher and William Hammer, and Sam Gauthier; four step grandchildren, Coby and Collin Broussard, and Austin and Beau McDonald; and three great grandchildren, Jack Hammer, Gavin Gauthier, and Kayne Luke Broussard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Louis and Cleophine Couvillion Gauthier; one son, Mark Gauthier; and two brothers, Albert and Cecil Gauthier. Serving as pallbearers will be David Gauthier, Sam Gauthier, Josh Gauthier, Christopher Hammer, William Hammer, Coby Broussard, Collin Broussard, Austin McDonald, and Beau McDonald. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Hammer, Derek Broussard, Bobby McDonald, Roderick Rodriguez, and Allen Alcina.
