Wilmer L. Boutte, 73, of Katy, Texas, formerly of Salinas, California passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013. He was born on February 19, 1940 in Jefferson Island, Louisiana to Morris and Lula Lillian Boutte. A long-time resident of Salinas, California, he graduated from Salinas High School in 1959 and joined the United States Army. After leaving the Army, Wilmer moved to Jeanerette, Louisiana and began a lengthy career with Martin Chemical Company. Wilmer then met his wife Vernal Jean Hall and settled in Franklin for over 20 years where they had two children, Wilmer Boutte Jr. and Astrid Boutte. Wilmer later moved back to Salinas and worked for Stone Container and Weyerhaeuser Paper Company where he worked as an instrument technician for over 14 years. His wisdom and presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In the final year of his life Wilmer and his wife of over 20 years separated and he moved to Katy, Texas to be near his children and grandchildren. Wilmer’s favorite pastimes were fishing, working on handy projects and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was also a proud New Orleans Saints fan. He was preceded in death by his parents Morris and Lula Lillian Boutte; a brother, Harold Boutte; and a sister, Lula Mae Gutteriez. Wilmer is survived by his children, Wilmer Boutte Jr. of Houston Texas; a daughter, Astrid Boutte-Skelton and her husband, James Skelton II of Katy Texas; three grandchildren, Taylor Boutte, James Skelton III and Ashlei Skelton; a spouse, Jessie Boutte of Tracy, California;, a sister, Barbara Collins of Harbor City, California; a brother, Morris Boutte Jr. of Perris, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
