Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2014/sm1401.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, February 3, 2014, at 11:00 AM at St. Jules Catholic Church in Franklin for Mr. Eugene Paul "Gene" Daigle, 72, a native of Jeanerette and a longtime resident of Franklin, who passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014, at his home. He will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Thomas Vu will officiate the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Henry J. "Whitey" Daigle, Jr., Christopher "Troy" Bryan, Randall Breaux, Brian Brumfield, Tommy Granger, Donald Gaspard, and Wiley Falks III. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Rigney, Winston DuBois, Jerry Abshire, Brennan LeBlanc, and Ray Guarisco. A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 5:00 PM. Visitations will continue Monday at the mortuary at 9:00 until time of dismissal at 10:30 AM. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Sandra McCary Waltner Daigle; five children, Catherine Daigle Bryan and her husband Christopher "Troy", Jill Daigle David, Denise Daigle Pitre and her husband Theron, Macari Waltner, and Connie Waltner Breaux and her husband Randall; one brother, Henry J. "Whitey" Daigle, Jr. and his wife Gail; and seven grandchildren, Daisy Reese Bryan, Jordan David, Brennan LeBlanc, Aaron LeBlanc, Nathan LeBlanc, Kennedy Breaux, and Taylor Breaux. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry J. Daigle, Sr. and Rita Pitre Daigle. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Francis Metz III, Dr. David Rinaldi and staff, and Southern Care Hospice for the loving care given to Gene.
