Sidney Owens Jr., 74, a resident of Bayou Vista passed away Tuesday, January 
28, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Sidney was born on June 25, 1939 in Centreville, Mississippi the son of Sidney 
Owens Sr. and Alba Miller Owens.

Sidney loved being in the outdoors fishing, hunting, and tending to his garden, 
but most of all loved spending time with his family especially his 
grandchildren. He coached his children in youth baseball when they were young. 
He was a member of the Mississippi National Guard.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Pat Myers Owens of 
Bayou Vista; four children, Joe Owens and wife Judy of Morgan City, Tammy Balli 
and husband Eddie of Bayou Vista, Johnny Owens and wife Karen of Bayou Vista, 
Lesa Savoy and husband Travis of Morgan City; eight grandchildren, Amy Owens, 
Tiffany Savoy and fiancé Scott Benoit, Carin Palmature and husband Jared, 
Justin Owens and wife Sarah, Stephanie Collins, Alyssa Balli and fiancé Tyler 
Cook, Michaela Balli, Caroline Owens; two great grandchildren, Logan Collins 
and Brantley Palmature. Sidney is also survived by one brother, James Owens and 
wife Colleen of Clinton, La.; cousin, Edward Netterville and wife Mary of 
Morgan City; special friend and caregiver Lou Sonnier of Bayou Vista.

Sidney was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Alice 
Hastings.

Pall bearers will be Johnny Owens, Edward Netterville, Eddie Balli, Travis 
Savoy, Justin Owens, Jared Palmature, Scott Benoit, Tyler Cook. Honorary 
pallbearers will be Issac Jullian, Richard Bullock, Tom Dontay, Barry Bolner, 
A.J. Gaudet.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Twin 
City Funeral Home with Pastor Steven Kelly officiating. Visitation will be held 
from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Twin City 
Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the 
funeral service on Friday at the funeral home. 

Sidney will be laid to rest in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Centreville, Mississippi 

following funeral services with graveside services beginning at 1:00 p.m.
