Velma Mae Wilkerson, age 72, a native and a resident of Morgan City, died 
Friday, January 17, 2014 at 6:30 PM at the Patterson Health Care Center in 
Patterson.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 507 
Fourth St., in Morgan City, La., from 11:00 AM until funeral service at 1:00 
PM. 

Burial will be in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Velma leaves to cherish her memories; one stepson, Albert Wilkerson, Jr., of 
Dallas, TX; two daughters, Anita W. Richardson of Patterson, La., and Stephanie 
Riley of Houston, TX; one sister, Debra Nixon; a stepbrother, Jerry Nixon of 
Lake Charles, La; five grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, nine step-
grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, Van Nixon, Sr., and Estelle Carter, her 
husband, Albert Wilkerson, Sr., and a brother, Van Nixon, Jr.
