Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2014/sm1402.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at 2:00 PM at the Church of the Assumption for Frank J. Gorman, born Francesco Giuseppe Paulo Gorman, a native and resident of Franklin who passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at 3:10 AM at Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia surrounded by his family. He will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery. Fr. Thomas Vu will officiate the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Frankie Gorman, Michael Gorman, Eric Gorman, Jacob Steiner, Anthony Verrette, and Joseph Loustalot. Honorary pallbearers will be Kim Gorman, Eddie Bodin, Brandon Gorman, and R. J. Charpentier. A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday at the Church of the Assumption from 11:00 AM until time of service at 2:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 1:00 PM. Mr. Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved his family and friends. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Baldwin Council 6873. In his early years he worked at Columbian Chemicals, until starting his own busines, Gorman Construction. In 1988 he retired from the construction business and went to work doing what he loved, shrimping and fishing as a commercial fisherman. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and his pet chihuahua Baby. Survivors include three children, Frankie P. Gorman of Franklin, Kim Gorman of Franklin, and Michael A. Gorman and his wife Barbara of Franklin; four grandchildren, Hannah G. Steiner and her husband Jacob of Franklin, Eric M. Gorman and his wife Angelique of Franklin, Marissa Gorman Verrette and her husband Anthony of Verdunville, and Kimberly Gorman of Franklin; six great grandchildren, Evan, Dylan, and Clara Anne Steiner, Giuseppe Gorman, Kyson Gorman, and Bena Rose Verrette; his sister, Micki Gorman Bodin Young and her husband Karl; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Merrill Belanger Hebert Gorman; his parents, Earl J. Gorman and Benata Benfiglio Gorman; two brothers, Lucas and Earl Gorman; and one sister, Flavia Thames.
