The Rev. Kenneth Leach officiated. Interment followed in the Little Flock Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m. Carl was born Oct. 1, 1941, in DeQuincy. He entered into eternal rest at his residence Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Hester Sr. and Cora Williams Hester; a daughter Vicki Lynn Hester; a son, Carl Shane Hester; a grandson, Clay Taylor Minson; and brothers, Johnny Hester and Newton Hester. He is survived by his daughters, Cindy Edwards of Zwolle, Gloria Thompson and husband, Jerry, of Many, Barbie Hester of Many; grandchildren, Brandi Loetscher, Corey Liverman, Matthew Loetscher, Amber Minson and Denisica Syracuse; five great-grandchildren; a brother, James Hester of DeQuincy; his sisters, Danna Haley of DeQuincy and Lucille Gadman of Amarillo, Texas; and a host of friends. Honoring him as pallbearers were Jerry Thompson, Douglas Warrick, Shane Anderson, Jim Shanley, Roger House and Lonnie Hartline.
