Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2014/sm1402.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== A Mass of Christian burial for Ms. Melba LeMaire Trahan will be celebrated Thursday, February 20, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson. She will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Patterson. Father Herb Bennerfield will officiate the services. A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday at Ibert's Mortuary in Patterson from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 6:30 PM. Visiting will continue Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:00 AM. Ms. Melba, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and aunt, was a native of Kaplan and a longtime resident of Patterson who passed away Monday, February 17, 2014, at 9:20 AM at AMG Specialty Hospital in Houma at the age of 98. A green-thumb gardener, she loved planting and tending to her flowers. She also had a love of traveling and reading and was a longtime and loyal member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson. She is survived by one son, Murray Dean Trahan and his wife Socorro; five grandchildren, Irvin, Carroll, Troy, Dion, and Bianca; 11 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; as well as a niece, Diane LeMaire Matherne, whom she raised from a young age; and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Phillip Trahan; four children, Sybil Jean Trahan, Calvin Trahan, Marion Trahan, and Carroll Trahan; her parents, Fareal and Clara Dartez LeMaire; nine siblings, Xavier, Amber, Eunice, Earl, Ernest, Andy "Blanche", Canby, Freddy "Black", and Paul Fareal; and a niece, Audrey Mae LeMaire Colbert, whom she also raised from a young age.
