During the last moments of her life, she was surrounded by loved ones as she slipped away with peace, dignity, and grace into God's beautiful heaven. Bluebonnets, George Jones, the color purple, and the Dallas Cowboys were a few of her favorite things along with reading, cooking, and gardening. Mrs. Claudia was dedicated to her faith and family. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She leaves her loved ones with many memories to cherish and share with others. Everything that is good in her children, Glenda and Gerald, came wholly or in part from her. She taught them to love, to give, the value of hard work, the importance of family, and to trust in the Lord. But most importantly, Claudia taught her loved ones the lesson of the fight to her very last breath. Her strength and spirit, in good times and bad, is an inspiration to all who knew her. Born in Troup, Texas, Claudia is the daughter to the late Robert Hemby and Essie Gee Hemby. She is now reunited with her husband of 40 years, Gerald A. Martin, who passed away in 1987. Also preceding her in death is her sister, Billy Jean; and two brothers, George and Bob Hemby. Survivors include her two children, Glenda Mire and her husband Tommy Mire, and Gerald R. Martin and his wife Kathryn Martin; four grandchildren, Toyia and her husband John, Marty and his wife Tori, Alison, and Kelly; seven great grandchildren, Brock, Alexandra, Jordyn, Isabella, Bailey, Ava-Kathleen, and Wyatt; as well as two brothers, Jimmy and Ronny Hemby. A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, March 6, at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin, from 9:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Bobby Hodnett officiating the service. She will be laid to rest with her late husband in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Baldwin. Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Mire, Marty Mire, John Kidder, Scott Stovall, Doug Steele, and David McWhorter. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Hemby, Ronny Hemby, Jimmy Martin, and Brock Kidder. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc., 1007 Main Street, Franklin, LA ===================
