Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2014/sm1404.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Funeral services for Eugene Joseph "Gene" Aucoin, Jr. will be held Friday, May 16, 2014, at 12:00 PM at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin. He will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Lloyd Benoit will officiate the services. A gathering of family and friends will begin Friday at 10:00 AM, with the rosary being prayed at 11:00 AM. Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Stevens, Jr., Jay Stevens, Toby Collins, Justin Pellerin, Joey King, and Andy Lanclos. Honorary pallbearers will be Bookie Ibert, Scott Stevens, and Mack Miller. Eugene was a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, who passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at the age of 71 at his home, following a brief illness. He served in the Army and National Guard and was employed with McDermott for 33 years as a welder. He dedicated his life to loving and caring for his mother. He loved taking her for rides and enjoyed spending time with family. He loved going out in his boat fishing. Eugene was also an animal lover and enjoyed taking care of his dog "Bear". Survivors include his mother, Agnes Stevens Aucoin of Franklin; three daughters, Leisha A. Collins and her husband Toby of Centerville, Danielle A. Hebert of Franklin, and Kim A. Detiveaux and her husband Steve of Coteau; eight grandchildren, Courtney King, Jadi Lanclos, Justin Pellerin, and Paige Pellerin, all of Centerville, Coty Robicheaux of Franklin, Britney Courrege of Coteau, and Kyndall Aucoin and Mason Detiveaux, of Coteau; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Joseph Aucoin, Sr., maternal grandparents, Joseph Stevens, Sr. and Aline B. Stevens; and paternal grandparents, Lawless Aucoin and Anna P. Aucoin. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Heart of Hospice, his nurse Doug Breaux, and their entire staff for the loving and compassionate care given to Mr. Gene.
