Jessie was born on May 7, 1949, in Ville Platte, Louisiana and was a longtime resident of both Morgan City and Broussard, Louisiana. Jessie was a devout Catholic; he faithfully attended Mass and prayed the Rosary daily. A proud United States Army Veteran serving two tours of duty during the Vietnam War with honor and dignity, he received multiple medals for his valiant service. Jessie worked for and retired from Shell Oil after 25 years of service. He was a devoted family man and his grandchildren were the light of his life. A loyal protector and an outstanding provider for his family, he often put their needs well above his own. Jessie was a true nature lover and an adventurous man, who enjoyed life to the fullest. Jessie leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 40 years, Jaye Lynn Barnes Manuel, along with two daughters, Micah Manuel Kelly and her husband, Tommy and Kayla Manuel Gorman and her husband, Michael; five grandchildren, Quentin and Cameron Kelly and Briar, Hudson, and Berklee Gorman; father, Jessie Ray Manuel; sister, Connie Manuel McAuliffe and her husband, Jeff; brother, Randy Manuel, Sr. and his longtime companion, Joyce Simmons; Mother-in-law, Earlene Delaune; Sister-in-law, Anna Lanier and her husband, Edward; Brother- in-laws, Doyle Barnes and Dunbar Delaune, Jr. and his wife, Diane; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Gertie Johnson Manuel, Father-in-law, Dunbar Delaune, Sr., and his brother-in-law, David Delaune. Private family services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Jessie being laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery. Army Veteran ===================
