Ross, 85, a resident of Morgan City passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014 at his home. Burt was born on June 29, 1928 in Berwick the son of Alfred and Alice Verrett Ross. Ross, as most of his family and friends called him, knew the virtue of routine and procedure. After retiring in 1984, from Mobil Oil Co., Ross enjoyed working yearly in his vegetable garden and caring for his lawn. Never having idle hands, he spent hours tinkering with things. He crafted many of his own gadgets used around his workshop and yard. Additionally, he was a dedicated NASCAR fan, as well as an avid reader who never wavered in the pursuit of learning new things. Above all, he enjoyed following the accomplishments of his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His coffee table always contained the most current newspaper clippings of his family, highlighted of course, due to his attention to important details. And his side tables were adorned with family Christmas cards, treasured and framed by him. His appreciation for good friends was no different; each Wednesday morning, Ross and his ÒBreakfast BuddiesÓ could be found at their usual table at ShoneyÕs Restaurant. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his four daughters Alice Ross of Carencro, Karen Nicar and husband Mike of Rayne, Paula Sylvester and husband Chet of Whiteville and Elaine Provost and husband Jeff of Navarre, Florida; seven grandchildren, Gary Nicar and wife Leah, P.J. Bergeron and wife Christy, Reagan Beaubouef and husband Tony, Melissa Broussard and husband Kirk, Becky Trosclair and husband Reggie, Samantha LaCombe and husband Mike, Jamie Guillory and husband Damien; seventeen great grandchildren; one sister, Sister Ann Ross. Burt was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Alice Verrett Ross, one sister Regina Hollingsworth, four brothers Garland "Buster" Ross, Alfred Ross Jr., John Ross and Lynn Ross Sr. Funeral services will held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Twin City Funeral Home with Father Danny PochŽ officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
