Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2014/sm1407.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, August 4, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Baldwin for Louis J. Benoit, II, 49, a native of New Iberia and a lifelong resident of Baldwin, who passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 31, 2014, at his home. Fr. Gregory Cormier will officiate the service. A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, August 3, 2014, at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume Monday at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Following the funeral services, in keeping with Louis' wishes, he will be cremated, with a private inurnment held at a later date. Serving as pallbearers will be Louis J. Benoit, III, Reginald Case, Jr., Donnie Chauvin, Lester Romero, Jason Greene, Ronnie Ardeneaux, Larry Gaudet, Jr., Shawn Landry, and Kent Hebert. Louis loved to hunt, fish, and cook and enjoyed spending time at the camp. He was also a gun and knife enthusiast, but his greatest passion in life was his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Regina Case Benoit; three children, Amber Benoit, Amanda Romero and her husband Lester "Wiggles", and Louis J. Benoit III; two grandchildren, Dondrick Benoit and Ali Romero; three sisters, Julia Martin and her husband Kippy, Gwen Vice and her husband Steve, and Paulette Chauvin and her husband Donnie; one brother-in-law, Reginald Case, Jr. and his wife Tricia; as well as his god-mother, and numerous nieces, nephews, and god-children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis J. Benoit, I and Juanita Abshire Benoit; three siblings, Roberta Hebert, Robert Dartez, and Margaret Lachney; and his mother-in-law, Sandra Sinitiere Case.
