Ray Pilant, 75 a native of Shawnee, OK and a long time resident of Morgan City, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. In his younger years, he was the general manager of KMRC radio station in Morgan City. He had that type of voice that few people could forget. For the past 40 plus years he was the owner and operator of Pilant Court Reporting firm. He served as a member of various civic organizations. One of RayŐs passions was that of sport fishing, in particular that of fly-fishing. He has many trophy fish to prove that he could catch the big ones. He and his best friend, Jim Wright spent many delightful hours in the boat casting a line. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Jane Coullard Pilant; his four sons, Kevin and his wife Colleen, Forrest and his wife Karen, Brandon and his wife Kathy, Christopher and his partner John Michael Byrd; his grandchildren, Joshua Pilant and wife Amy, Lana and her husband Tim Trude, Trisha and her husband Jarrett Mabile, Cody Pilant, Caleb Pilant, Marcus Pilant and wife Nicole, Jennifer Pilant, Sarah and husband Chad Dean, and Laura Pilant; his great grandchildren, Madisyn and Payton Pilant, Reece, Ethan, and Drake Trude, Savannah, Abagail, Sophia and Owen Pilant. His brothers, John, Calvin and Joe Pilant, also survive Ray. His parents, Clyde Ellis Pilant and Leona Moody Pilant, a brother, Ross Pilant and a great grandson, Mason Mabile, preceded him in death. Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church beginning at 8:00 a.m. until time of Mass. The memorial Mass will be said at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations towards ParkinsonŐs research or a charity of your choice.
