Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2014/sm1407.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Funeral services for David Crawford Rose, Sr. will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin, with Rev. John Wamsley officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, July 25, 2014 at Ibert's Mortuary from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with the mortuary reopening Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 9:00 AM until service time. He was a native of New Iberia and a lifelong resident of Franklin, who passed away at the age of 74 on Saturday, July 19, 2014. David was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a 1957 graduate of Franklin High School and continued his education graduating from USL. He managed the OST Service Station until 1968 and at that time he went into business for himself. He served on the Civil Service Board for 10 years, he was a member and past vice president of the Chamber of Commerce, past member of the Franklin Jaycees and honored by them as the Outstanding Man of the Year in 1971, a member of the Krewe of Sucrose, reigning in 1976 as King Sucrose XXXVI, served as chairman for the Scout-a-Rama for four years and Scout Leader for the Boy Scouts of America Troop 1. He served as president of the "Brothers of the Bush", served on the board for the Bicentennial celebration, belonged to the Franklin Optimist Club and was a member of the Rotary Club. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Sarah Overbey Rose; three sons, David Crawford Rose, Jr., Marion Kyle Rose and his wife Stephanie and William Moss Rose and his wife Julie; three daughters, Sarah "Beth" Rose Berard and her husband Allen and Linda "Carrie" Rose Gaudin and her husband Corey, Tonya Rose Cook and her husband Kevin; two sisters, Carolyn Rose Rentrop and Linda Rose Abbott and her husband Larry; his grandchildren, Destany Annette Rose, Ian Crawford Rose, Ali Elizabeth Berard, Cara Evangeline Berard, Austin Paul Rose, Amalie Rose Gaudin, Sydney Grace Gaudin, Elijah James Gaudin, Rylee Catherine Rose, a granddaughter due in November, Mathew Cook and Samuel Cook. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Crawford "Buster" Rose and Alice Thibodaux Rose.
