Juanita loved her family with all her heart and was a devoted wife, mother, and teacher. Juanita was a dedicated member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. She was the third female generation of her family to be taught by the Marionite Sisters of Holy Cross. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and Our Lady of Holy Cross College in Algiers. Juanita believed she was an instrument in GodÕs hand as she taught first grade students at Sacred Heart Academy and Holy Cross Elementary School for 48 years. She considered children to be precious gifts and saw Christ in each child. In 1985 Juanita was recognized by the National Catholic Education Association as the Distinguished Teacher in Region 5 (Southern States). Known for her great Cajun cooking, other favorite hobbies included working in her beautiful garden, presiding over her sparklingly clean home, dancing with her loving husband, and visiting numerous states from East to West. Both JuanitaÕs home and heart were always welcoming, not only to family and friends but to the community as well. Juanita is survived by her loving and adoring husband of 62 years, Jerrel Frederick; her beloved daughter, Lizetta Frederick; one brother, David Goulas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is reunited with her parents, Charles and Lizetta Goulas; and three brothers, Roger Goulas (her twin), Donald Goulas, and Charles Goulas. The family requests that visitation be observed Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at Holy Cross Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at noon at Holy Cross Catholic Church with graveside services following in the Morgan City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in JuanitaÕs name to Holy Cross Elementary School to be used for student scholarships. ===================
