Stelly Sr., a resident of Bayou L'Ourse passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 at his home. Joseph was born on October 7, 1942 in Opelousas the son of Donnadieu and Bertha Guillory Stelly. Joseph loved to be out on the water fishing or shrimping or working on his boats. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed cooking anything from raccoon to wild hog for his family. He was a past member of the Southern Atchafalaya Hunting Club. Joseph was a great provider for his family throughout the years and throughout his travels never met a stranger. He enjoyed talking on the phone with his friends and family, or anyone that would listen. He recently started raising chickens and enjoyed taking take care of them. Of all of the things that Joseph enjoyed in life the thing he loved the most was spending time with his family, especially spoiling his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Helen Guidry Stelly of Bayou L'Ourse; four children, Joseph J. Stelly Jr. and wife Michelle of Bayou L'Ourse, Paul Stelly and wife Tina of Morgan City, Melissa Stelly of Export, Pennsylvania, Anthony Stelly and wife Jaclyn of Bayou L'Ourse; seven grandchildren, Jessica Stelly Gros and husband Brent Jr., Juaune Stelly, Schyler Stelly, Nicholas Stelly, Chase Stelly, Chance Grosser, Xander Stelly; four great grandchildren, Xadrian Stelly, Aurora Stelly, Abigail Gros, Jayvn Benjamin. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Lanclos and husband Russell and Cynthia Stelly, both of Arnaudville. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Percy Stelly; two sisters, Virgie Haoffpauir and Jeanette Taylor. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at St. Andrew Catholic Church. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until dismissal for mass on Wednesday at Twin City Funeral Home. Joseph will be entombed in the Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum following Mass. ===================
