Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2014/sm1409.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Huey John Ohmer Sr., a native of Bayou Chene and a resident of Morgan City, passed away Monday, September 8, 2014 at the age of 81. Huey leaves to cherish his memory six loving children, Huey J. Ohmer Jr. and his wife, Darlene, of Amelia, Julie O. Barbier and son-in-law, Gerald, of Morgan City; Nancy O. Gros and her husband, Lynn, Belleville, TX., Cindy O. Gunter and her husband, Chris, of Morgan City, Jimmy A. Ohmer and his wife, Chantel, of Amelia, and Joel A. Ohmer and his wife, Michelle, of Houma; one brother, Cleveland Ohmer; five sisters, Lona Pennison, Loretta Tabor, Helen Benoit, Lucy Tabor, and Geneva Carnley; 12 grandchildren, Heath Ohmer and his fiancˇ, Megan Mayon, Heidi Ohmer, Brittany Barbier Evans and her husband, Josh, Trey Gros, Cameron Gros, McKenna Gros, Ashlyn Bruni, Ryan Ohmer, Parrish Hebert, Sagan Ohmer, Haven Ohmer, and Gable Ohmer ; one great grandchild, Maddison and another expected in April. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Mary Lou Ohmer; his father, Philip C. Ohmer; his mother, Helen V. Ohmer Solar; one brother, Joseph Solar; one sister, Barbara Autin; one grandson, Justin Barbier; one granddaughter, Heather Ohmer. Huey proudly served his nation in the United States Army where he was dispatched to Germany during the Korean Conflict. Huey worked for McDermott for 30 dedicated years as a ship fitter. Prior to his work there, Huey worked as a boat captain, navigating the Mississippi River and bayous of Louisiana. A jokester, Huey was one who always loved to laugh and inspired laughter in others. He enjoyed many other hobbies, such as cooking, fishing, and especially watching the LSU Tigers and the Saints play. The Saints Super Bowl Championship was a source of great joy. His family describe their father as a family man, a nurturer, and obviously a patient man. The family requests that visitation be observed Tuesday, September 9, 2014 from 6pm to 9pm with a rosary being prayed at 7pm at Hargrave Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from 8 am until dismissal at 1:30 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 2.00 pm at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Amelia with burial following in St. Andrew Catholic Church cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to his caretakers, Quandie and Claudine. They would also like to thank his daughters Julie and Cindy, and his son-in-law, Chris or taking such loving care of him. US Army ===================
