Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2014/sm1409.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, September 22, 2014, at 1:00 PM at St. Jules Catholic Church in Franklin for Mr. Wilfred "Son" Peltier, Jr., 93, a native of Franklin and a longtime resident of Bayou Sale, who passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014, at 1:10 PM at his home. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Gregory Cormier will officiate the services. Mr. Peltier was a veteran of the United States Army, having faithfully served his country and fellow man during World War II, fighting in many battles in the European Theater. Survivors include four children, Cherryl Shilling of Houston, Texas, Sheila Finley and her husband Tim of Bayou Sale, Wilfred "Chip" Peltier, III and his wife Leslie of Lafayette, and Russell Peltier and his devoted friend Paul Weiss of Bayou Sale; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Lorraine Brownell of Morgan City, Lova Peltier of Walker and Georgia Peltier of Berwick; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmelita "Cookie" Bernucho Peltier; two children, Maria Lorraine Peltier and Diana Carol Peltier; his parents, Wilfred Peltier, Sr. and Ellen Coleman Peltier; four sisters, Mary Ellen P. Foreman, Emmadel P. Levet, Elizabeth P. Duncan Foreman, and Miriam P. Firmin; and two brothers, Huey Paul Peltier and Godfrey Harry Peltier. A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday at St. Jules Catholic Church from 10:00 AM until time of Mass at 1:00 PM. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Weiss, Jeremy Clements, John Peltier, Jeremy Finley, Ira "Buck" Finley, Jr., and Michael Finley. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Mr. Son's caregiver, Linda Gant, and to his nurse with Family Choice Care, Elizabeth Delahoussaye, for the loving care and compassion given.
