Essie was born on October 10, 1914 in Allenhurst, Georgia the son of Emmett and Onnie Harrell Hardaway. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two children, Lois Premeaux and husband James of Morgan City and Arthur Thomas Yonge and wife Cinda of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren, 16 grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Sarah Deary of Savannah, Georgia and Dorothy Louviere of Pierre Part; numerous nieces and nephews. Essie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merton A. Yonge Sr.; one son Merton A. Yonge Jr.; one grandson, Merton A. Yonge III; one brother, Emmett Thomas Hardaway Jr.; six sisters, Mary Miller, Annie Lee Bryant, Mildred Irwin, Jessie Mae Hardaway, Lillie Strickland, Marie Weaver. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 22, 2014 at Pharr Chapel United Methodist with Rev. John Locascio officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Pharr Chapel United Methodist Church ===================
