Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2014/sm1410.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Funeral services for Buckley "Pop" Black will be held Friday, October 10, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin, with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 9:00 AM and continuing until time of service. He will be laid to rest in the Teche Gardens Cemetery in Verdunville. Pastor Robert Liner, Sr., along with Mr. Black's grandson Bro. Chris Hebert, will officiate the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Keith Leonard, Glenn Hebert, Jr., Jake Clements, Willis Leonard, Jr., Thomas, Black, Jr., Mo Seneca, Trevor Alfano, and Chuck Alfano. Pop, as he was known by family and friends, was born on September 28, 1917 in Natchitoches, LA, and was a resident of Franklin. He was called home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, October 6, 2014, at the age of 97. His career was spent in construction in the oil field, working hard to provide for his family, whom he loved dearly. Survivors include five daughters, Alice Leonard of Franklin, Amy Lee of Centerville, Carolyn Minvielle and her companion Bubba of Arkansas, Claudine Chauvin and her husband Gerald of Franklin, and Carrie Alcina and her husband Joe of Centerville; two brothers, Edward Black of Arkansas and Billy Black of Texas; 28 grandchildren; 60 great grandchildren; and 30 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Brazeale Black; two sons, Johnny Black and Thomas Black, Sr.; two daughters, Maudine Noble and Polly Pumphery; two brothers, Willard and Jesse Black; two sisters, Mary Corley and Doris Morris; three sons-in-law, Willis Leonard Sr., Glenn Hebert Sr., and William Noble; one daughter-in-law, Gale Black; as well as one grandson and two great grandsons. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, 1007 Main St., Franklin, LA ===================
