Michel, 64, lifelong resident of Morgan City, LA, passed away Friday, October 10, 2014, while surrounded by his loving family. Michael leaves to cherish his wonderful memory: his wife of 40 years, Tessie Rhodes Michel of Morgan City; his son, Matthew C. Michel and his wife, Lauren, of Youngsville; their daughter, Ava Grace Michel of Youngsville; his son, Brett C. Michel and his fiancé, Celina Allemand, of Lafayette; one brother, Lovelace J Michel, Jr.; and one sister, Toni Svoboda. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Lovelace J. Michel, Sr. and Mildred Romero Michel. Michael served six years in the U.S. Army National Guard of Louisiana and was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He prayed the rosary every day for 10 years while both his sons served in the Iraq war. Michael was a Boy Scouts of America Scout Master for Troop 49 and flew out 29 eagle scouts, two of which were his own sons. He received the B.S.A. Silver Beaver Award. Michael was the administrative-accountant at South Central Louisiana Technical College/Young Memorial Campus. Michael's hobbies included: hunting, shooting, fishing, camping, wood carving, and especially photography, the last, for which he won multiple awards locally. It was well known that Michael was also involved during his free time in youth baseball and football. Michael was known for always having a smile on his face, he could bring anyone to laughter, and brighten their worse day. It shouldn't have to be said that he was a pleasure to be around. Honesty, integrity, loyalty and patience were just a few of his values. Visitations will be Friday, October 10, 2014, at Hargrave Funeral Home, beginning at 6pm until 10pm, with a Rosary being prayed at 7pm. Visitation will resume Saturday, October 11, 2014, at 9am until time of Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City. A Mass of Christian burial will begin Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 12noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Michael being laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum. In honor of Michael, please make donations to Boy Scout Troop 49 of Morgan City, LA. U.S. Army National Guard ===================
