All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgenweb.org/volunteers/copyright.shtml ======================================================================= SPANGLER, SHIRLEY ROBICHAUX Dec. 22, 1922 ~ Oct. 12, 2014 A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at 1 p.m., at the Church of the Assumption in Franklin for Shirley Robichaux Spangler, who passed away at the age of 91 on Sunday, October 12, 2014, at Franklin Foundation Hospital. She will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Lloyd Benoit will be the Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the services, with Father Oneil Landry concelebrating. Serving as pallbearers will be Reid Spangler, Brent Spangler, Jake Spangler, Derrick Faucheux, Laine Faucheux and Eric Randall. A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday at the Church of the Assumption from 9 a.m. until time of service, with the rosary being prayed at 11 a.m., led by the Catholic Daughters and Ladies Altar Society. A native and lifelong resident of Franklin, Mrs. Shirley was born on December 22, 1922, the eldest of seven children born to the late Wilson Robichaux Sr. and Mabel Landry Robichaux. She was a member of the Church of the Assumption since her birth, where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister and brought Communion to the sick and homebound. She was also a member of the Ladies Altar Society and Catholic Daughters since 1983. She served as Regent of the Catholic Daughters, Court Assumption, from 1988-1991 and in 1991 was named Catholic Daughter of the Year. On April 24, 2002 she was awarded the Bishop’s Devoted Servant Award for the Diocese of Lafayette. She was a member of the Golden Age Club and was honored as Member of the Year in 2005. Many will remember her as the office nurse to Dr. Supple, for whom she worked for more than 25 years. She also volunteered as a Pink Lady at Franklin Foundation Hospital. Survivors include one son, Reid J. Spangler and his wife, Jackie; four siblings, Wilson Robichaux Jr., Richard Robichaux, William Robichaux and Doris R. Martin; four grandchildren, Laura S. Faucheux, Brent Spangler, Rebecca Rene’ S. Randall and Jake Spangler; five great grandchildren, Laine Faucheux, Zoe’ Hamlin, Luke Spangler, Konner Randall and Kyle Randall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren John Spangler; one son, Carl J. Spangler; one grandson, Derek J. Spangler; and two siblings, Florida R.
