Butch was born on July, 12, 1943, in Morgan City, the son of Milford L. Blum Sr. and Rosalie Guarisco Blum. Butch enjoyed a banking career that spanned 43 years with First National Bank in St. Mary Parish which was sold to Whitney Bank in 1996. Butch continued to work for Whitney Bank as the Senior Vice President of the Western Region Executive until his retirement in 2006. He was an advocate of Catholic education and served on the Board of Holy Cross Elementary. Butch enjoyed his yearly vacation to Sandestin, Florida, where he spent time with his grandchildren and children. Through the years, he thoroughly enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participating in various sporting events and even dance recitals. Butch was an avid follower of the weather, and some would even call him a student of meteorology. Butch was also a historian of WWII, taking an interest in this due to his father's service in the war. Of all the things that Butch did throughout his life, his family and faith were the most important things to him. He was the patriarch of his family after his father's death and continued that legacy with his own family. He always put family first, whether it was his immediate family or extended family. He was a true "hero" in every sense of the word to his own children and was idolized by his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three children, Charlene Blum Eymard and husband Dwayne of LaPlace, Lisa Blum Smith and husband Terry of Baton Rouge, and Jeffery Blum and wife Caridad of Lafayette; six grandchildren, Matthew Eymard, Eric Eymard and Emily Eymard all of LaPlace, Adam Blum of Lafayette, Megan Smith of Baton Rouge, and Jacob Blum of Lafayette; two brothers, Carl Blum and wife Mary Ellen of Morgan City, Herbert Blum and wife Denise Puente of New Orleans; two sisters, Carolyn Breaux and husband Tommy of Morgan City, Mary Tamporello and husband Louis of Morgan City. Butch was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Martha "Fran" Blum. The family would like to thank all of those extended family members who helped and were there to carry Butch through his final fight. They would especially like to thank Lisa and Kaley Ryan, as well as the staff of Elder Care and the Butterfly Wing of Baton Rouge General Hospice. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 1, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Monsignor J. Douglas Courville officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will resume from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Monday at Sacred Heart Church. Butch will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum following Mass. ===================
