Funeral services celebrating the life of Dorothy Montet Simon, 90, will be held 
Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian burial at St. Joseph 
Catholic Church in Milton. 
Father Gary Schexnayder will be the Celebrant of the Mass. 

She will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery. 

A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday at Ibert's Mortuary in 
Franklin from 9:00 AM until time of dismissal at 12:30 PM, with the rosary 
being prayed at 11:30 AM.

Dorothy, a native of Maurice and a resident of Franklin for over 50 years, died 
at her home in Franklin surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 22, 
2014. 

Before starting her family, Dorothy worked for the US Postal Service in Maurice 
and was also a spotter for enemy aircraft during WWII. She was a woman with a 
great sense of humor. Although she suffered with Rheumatoid Arthritis for many 
years, she hardly complained. As most would say, she was a trooper. She was a 
very hard worker, raising four children and tending to their home and garden.

Survivors include her four children, Linda S. Barrilleaux and her husband Al of 
Franklin, Mary S. Ellender and her husband Gerald of Houma, Joan S. Gaudet and 
her husband Charles of Sorrel, and Norris C. Simon and his wife Patricia of 
Franklin; eight grandchildren, Dawn Trahan, Jason Granger, Joleigh Hulin, Zack 
Barrilleaux, Cory Firmin, Emily Gaudet, Landon Gaudet, and Justin Simon; and 
eight great grandchildren, Harley Granger, Austin Granger, Taylor Granger, Ryan 
Trahan, Kristin Trahan, Abigail Hulin, Caroline Hulin, and Ryleigh Barrilleaux.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norris "Loul" Simon; her parents, 
Hilaire Montet and Cecile Trahan Montet; and ten siblings, Rita Montet, Glaudue 
Montet, Edith M. Broussard, Enite M. Hebert, Ester M. Mouton, Anna Mae M. 
Foreman, Lewis Montet, Roy Montet, Phillip Montet, and Noel Montet.

Serving as pallbearers will be Norris C. Simon, Justin Simon, Cory Firmin, 
Jason Granger, Ryan Trahan, and Landon Gaudet. Honorary pallbearers will be 
Dawn Trahan and Zack Barrilleaux.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of 
Heart of Hospice in Franklin for the kind and excellent care given to their 
mother. Bryan, Tara, Doug, Rochell, Sue, Nicole, Elleanor, Jackie, Trudy, and 
Dana, thank you all so very much.
