Laura Ann Smith, age 81, a resident of Morgan City, La., died Friday, January 
16, 2015 at 5:34 PM at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Smith was a Educator, retiring from the St. Mary Parish School System.

Visitation will be observed Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Mt. Pilgrim 
Baptist Church 113 Federal Avenue Morgan City, LA from 9:00 AM until funeral 
services at 11:00 AM, with the Ivy Beyond the Wall Ceremony of Alpha Kappa 
Alpha Sorority Inc. beginning at 10:30 AM. Reverend Edward Robinson will 
officiate the services. 

Entombment will follow in the Morgan City Mausoleum.

Cherished and divine memories of First Lady Smith will forever be remembered by 
her beloved husband, the Reverend Dr. C. F. Smith, Sr. of Morgan City, LA; her 
four loving children, Stephanie Carbin (Gillis), Chrispin F. Smith, Jr. of 
Morgan City, LA,  Sonia D. Smith all of Morgan City, LA and Jonathan F. Smith 
of San Antonio, TX; a brother, Vincent Copper, Sr. of New Orleans, LA; a 
sister-in-law, Catherine Copper of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Roneld 
Clay, Ronald Clay, Alessia Carbin, Brandi Smith and Jillian Smith; as well as 
other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Eddie Copper, Sr. and 
Iris LaVerta Collins Copper; one sister, Julia Copper-Dixson and two brothers, 
Xenphon W. Copper and Charles Eddie Copper, Jr.
