Fr. Gregory Cormier will conduct the memorial. A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., at his father’s home at 219 W. Sunset St. in Baldwin. All are encouraged to help celebrate Mike’s life by wearing your favorite casual LSU attire. A native of Franklin and a resident of Prairieville, LA, Gene Michael passed away on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at the age of 57. Mike was a lifelong offshore worker and an avid LSU fan. He enjoyed cooking, football, and spending time with family. He was a loving caregiver to those in need. If you knew Mike, you knew how big his heart was. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Belinda W. Charpentier; his father, Shanley J. Charpentier and his wife, Lota “Totsie” Charpentier; his children, Tonie H. Knapp and her fiancé, Dennis Caruso; Claude Hebert and his wife, Laura; and Lance Hebert; sisters and brothers, Jody Charpentier; Jan C. Romero and her husband, Ernest; Tammy C. Doucet and her husband, Edwin; Trudy C. Hargis and her husband, Hughey; Eugene O’Brien and his wife, Joy; Brenda Amy and her husband, Eddie; Perry O’Brien and Denny O’Brien. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alexandra Knapp, Thomas Knapp, Gabrielle Knapp, Tyler Hebert, and Jackson Hebert; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Signorelli Charpentier; mother- in-law, Toni Lancon; and brother, Brian O’Brien. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to help alleviate funeral expenses. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin. ===================
