Wilson, Sr., a native of Oakdale and a longtime resident of Morgan City passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2015 at Teche Regional Medical Center. He was 80 years of age. Mr. Wilson was the owner of M.C. Action Supply. He served as a longtime member of the St. Mary Parish Consolidated Drainage District # 2, a past board member of Morgan City Recreation Department, and Lake End Park Commission. He also coached Dixie Youth and Pony League Baseball for several years. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Blakely Wilson; his two sons, Harrel L. "Butch" Wilson Jr. of Metairie and Stephen H. Wilson (Vanessa Richelle Wilson) of Washington, D.C.; his three sisters, Mrs. Helen Ross and Mrs. Donna Patureau (Mike) of Morgan City, and Mrs. Sue Johnson of Oakdale; He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Jane LaBonne of Morgan City; three nephews, three nieces, and a special great niece and great nephew, Rhea and Gage Patureau. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Leslie Wilson and Melva Guillory Wilson; one sister, Carol Lynn Oubre; and niece, Lee-Anne Ross; one nephew, Harris "Jimmy". Ross, Jr.,; two brother-in-law, Harris J. Ross, Sr., and Cephas Johnson. Our hearts are filled with gratitude for the compassionate care Harrel received from Dr. Francis Metz III, Dr. Juan Escarfuller, and the other doctors, nurses and staff who cared for Harrel. The Rehab staff and those wonderful young people who worked with him, he delighted in you. Your motivation and encouragement is impressive. Thank You all so very, very much.
