Dewey was born in Morgan City, grew up in Berwick, and lived most of his life as a resident of Morgan City. He was preceded in death by his father, Dewey J. Boudreaux, Sr., his mother, Grace Berger Boudreaux, and three brothers, Larry Boudreaux, Jack Lawrence Boudreaux, and Clyde Boudreaux. Boo, as he was almost universally known, led an active life of service to others. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a medical technologist in the Pacific arena during World War II. He received a B.S. degree from LSU upon his return from the war. He worked as a Medical Technologist and then later as a Risk Manager at Lakewood Hospital in Morgan City from its inception in 1955 until his retirement in 1992. Boo served as a scout leader of Cub Scout Pack 330 for a number of years. He had been an active member of Kiwanis, serving as President of the Morgan City chapter. He was an active member at Holy Cross Catholic Church, serving on pastoral councils and as a commentator, reader, and choir member. In his later years, he volunteered as a “listener” for beginning readers at M.E. Norman Elementary School. He was also known to save his spare change until it reached enough to buy a bicycle, which he would then donate anonymously to a child chosen by the staff at the school. Dewey is survived by his wife, Rosetta Guarisco Boudreaux, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage. He is also survived by four sons and their spouses, Michael K. and Deborah P. Boudreaux of Bush, La., Mark L. and Rebecca T. Boudreaux of Houma, Kim C. Boudreaux and Maxine G. Boudreaux also of Houma, and Peter L. and Nancy C. Boudreaux of Morgan City. Surviving grandchildren include Christopher Pierson, Jonathan Pierson, Matthew Boudreaux, Michaela Boudreaux, Lesley Boudreaux, Douglas Boudreaux, Tessa Boudreaux, Zachary Boudreaux, and Benjamin Boudreaux. Dewey is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren. His vitality and humor will be missed by a host of family and friends. A funeral will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation at the church beginning at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends of Boo plant a cypress tree in his honor, since he had helped plant many of the small groves of cypress trees found around Morgan City U.S. Navy ===================
