Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2015/sm1505.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Elise Marie Rogers Broussard on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at 1:00 PM at the Church of the Assumption in Franklin. She will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery Mausoleum. Father Lloyd Benoit will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the services. A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday at the church from 9:00 AM until time of Mass, with the rosary being prayed at 11:00 AM. Mrs. Elise was a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, born on February 28, 1927 to the late Altia Joseph and Celestine Naquin Rogers. She was a 1944 graduate of St. John Academy. On her 19th birthday, February 28, 1946, she married the love of her life, Clifford J. Broussard, and began their life together. In her younger years, Elise worked for May Brothers Lumber Co until 1957 and then for Richard's Variety Store until its closing in 1970. Elise was a devout Catholic and an active member of her church, the Church of the Assumption, where she made baptismal bibs and helped take care of the Altar linens. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society, joining in 1965, as well as a member of the Catholic Daughters, Court Assumption, joining in 1984 and chosen as Daughter of the Year in 1992. Elise was also a member of the Golden Age Club and was chosen Mother of the Year in 1996 and Member of the Year in 2003, and was also a member of AARP attending meetings in the Morgan City and St. Martinville Chapters. She also devoted her time in helping others, driving them to doctor's appointments and grocery shopping. Some of her favorite pastimes were crocheting and going trawling with her husband. She passed away at the age of 88 with her family at her bedside on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Clifford J. Broussard; her granddaughters, Donna Broussard Hunter and her husband Master Sergeant Kevin Hunter USMC Ret., Robin Broussard Yancoski and her husband Christopher Yancoski, and Rebecca Broussard Rodriguez and her husband Larry Rodriguez; six great grandchildren, Ryan Matthew and Catherine Elise Hunter, Quentin Joseph and Matthew John Yancoski, and Alaina Nichole and Evan Michael Rodriguez; her daughter-in-law, Karen Hoover Broussard; her brothers, Junius and Reynold Rogers; and her sister, Phyllis R. Dumesnil. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ollen Matthew Broussard; and her brothers, Raymond, Byron, Herman, James, and Bertrand Rogers. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all of her doctors, hospitals, and their staffs for the loving and compassionate care given to Mrs. Elise.
