Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2015/sm1505.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Funeral services celebrating the life of Jack Bernard Thibodaux, Sr. will be held Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin. He will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery Mausoleum, with Military Honors. Father Lloyd Benoit will officiate the services. A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday at Ibert's Mortuary from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Thursday from 9:00 AM until time of service. Jack Bernard Thibodaux, Sr., 90, a native of Shadyside, resident of Garden City and a longtime resident of Franklin, passed away peacefully with family by his side, Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Camelot of Broussard, after a brief battle with cancer. "Mr. Jack" as he was fondly known by many, grew up in Shadyside on Shadyside Plantation. As a young boy his family operated the General Store on the Plantation. After graduation from Hanson Memorial High School in 1942 he attended LSU on a band scholarship until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1943. He served his country in the United States Army from 1943 to 1952 and served during WWII in Germany and moved up the ranks to Master Sergeant. He loved big band music and played the clarinet and saxophone in several local bands for many years, while also serving as band manager. Following his service in the U.S. Army he, his wife and children settled down in Garden City, Louisiana. In 1968 his family moved to Franklin, Louisiana and lived across the street from The Church of The Assumption where he was a devout member. He served his church for over 40 years as an usher, passing the collection basket every Sunday at 8:00 AM mass. He was the owner of Jack's TV Sales & Service and Jack's Carpet Center. He was a bus driver for the St. Mary Parish School Board, driving Bus Number 52, for over 20 years until his retirement in 1990. He was an active member of the American Legion and in August of 2014 was honored for 69 years of service. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and VFW. He was one of the founding members of the Krewe of Agmarol and one of the Krewe's most senior members until the Krewe dissolved. His memory will be cherished and he will be deeply missed by his 2 sons, 4 grand-daughters, 9 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whose lives he has touched throughout the years. Survivors include two sons, Jack B. Thibodaux, Jr. and his wife, Martha, of Lafayette and Ray James Thibodaux of Denham Springs; four granddaughters, Leslie Thibodaux Vercher of Spring, Texas and her husband, Paul; Brooke Thibodaux Williams of Nederland, Texas and her husband, Michael; Tracy Thibodaux Marcell of Youngsville, and her husband, Shane; and Kelly Thibodaux Daniel of Lafayette, LA and her husband, Chal; nine great-grandchildren, Brooklin Tardiff; Alec & Jace Vercher; Kallie Stelly; Layden Marcell; Emma & Reagan Williams; and Alexis & Claire Daniel; and cherished friend, Dolores Robicheaux. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene H. Thibodaux, Sr. and Therese Bernard Thibodaux, his wife of 62 years, Eula Legnon Thibodaux, one brother, Eugene H. Thibodaux, Jr.; three sisters, Alice Thibodaux Rose; Myrtle Thibodaux Robichaux, and Odette Thibodaux Toups; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Thibodaux. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be: Jimmie Daniel II, Tommy Ducote, Chris Freeman, Kevin Lindheim, Kenny Lindheim, Lenny Lindheim, Danny Luke, Ringold Luke, Barry Luke, James Thibodaux, Sr. and Alec Vercher.
