Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2015/sm1507.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Funeral services for Arthur Neil Minor, Jr. will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2015, during a 1:00 PM Memorial Mass of Christian burial at the Church of the Assumption in Franklin. Fr. Lloyd Benoit will be the Celebrant for the Mass. A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday at the Church of the Assumption from 10:00 AM until time of service, with the rosary being prayed at 11:30 AM. Private inurnment will be held at a later date in the Franklin Cemetery. Neil was born on November 19, 1935 in Jena, LA to the late Arthur Neil Minor, Sr. and the late Josephine McElroy Minor. He was former longtime resident of Ferriday, LA and has been a resident of Franklin since 1957. Neil passed away at the age of 79 on Friday, July 24, 2015, at Iberia Extended Care Center in New Iberia. Neil was very active in the local community of Franklin and surrounding area, serving in many capacities. He was a member of the Church of the Assumption, where he served as an usher, he served for eight years on the Franklin City Council, was a former Finance Chairman for the Teche District Boy Scouts of America as well as three years as a Cub Master, the founder of the Franklin Police Reserve and the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Inmate Work Program. Neil was also had a love for youth sports. He was co-founder of Franklin Little League, Inc., of which he served five years as president and eight years as a coach, was co-founder of Franklin Pee Wee Football, Inc., served four years as president of the Franklin Senior High School Athletic Booster Club, and served numerous years as the girls personal fast pitch coach for Franklin Senior High School, Hanson Memorial High School, and Chitimacha School. He was also a member and past president of the Franklin Jaycees, a member and past vice president of the Franklin Lion's Club, co-founder and charter vice president of the Franklin Optimist Club, former board member of the Franklin Samaritan House for Abused Girls, past president and 1999 volunteer of the year of the Boys and Girls Cub of the Bayou Teche Region, was a former Public Works Director and served numerous years a Director of Zoning, Permits, Inspections, Flood Elevations, and Special Projects for the City of Franklin. He was also past Mardi Gras King of the Krewe of Teche and past Captain of the Krewe of Agmarol. He was especially proud of the Franklin Cemetery fence, which he designed, built, and installed using only inmate labor and the guard railing from the old Hwy 90 Calumet Bridge. Survivors include his wife of 22 1/2 years, Cynthia "Cindy" Lucia Minor; his two sons, Anthony Neil "Tony" Minor of Lake Charles and Kenneth Wayne "Kenny" Minor of Baldwin; his brother, Gerald Minor and his wife Audrey of Baldwin; sisters-in-law, Vel Minor of Baldwin and Roxanne Lange and her husband Mark of Franklin; brothers-in-law, Thomas "Tommy" Ducote and his wife Sheila of Franklin and Joseph "Joey" Lucia of Baldwin; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren., as well as numerous other family members and countless friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Ray Minor. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc., 1007 Main Street, Franklin, LA ===================
