Funeral services will be held Friday, October 23, 2015, at 1:00 PM at Ibert's 
Mortuary in Franklin for James C. Melancon, a native of Franklin and a resident 
of Garden City, who passed away at the age of 69 on Sunday, October 18, 2015, 
at his home. 

He will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery. 
Father Billy Ruskoski will conduct the services.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday at Ibert's from 10:30 AM 
until time of service.

Snowball, as he was affectionately known, worked for many years with Southern 
Natural Gas as a Crew Leader. His favorite pastimes were tinkering in his shop 
and visiting with everyone in town. He never met a stranger. He was also a 
veteran of the Louisiana National Guard. He will be deeply missed by all who 
knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife Deborah Robichaux Melancon; his children, James S. 
Melancon and LaClaire Melancon Achee and her husband Chris; and three 
grandchildren, Caitlin and Lauren Achee, and Ethan Melancon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Severin C. Melancon and Marian Chauvin 
Melancon.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to help alleviate 
funeral expenses.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc., 1007 Main Street, 
Franklin, LA
