Cross, age 98, a native of Gibson, LA and resident of Morgan City, LA passed away on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 2:30 PM at the Iberia Manor South Nursing Center in New Iberia, LA. Visitation will be observed Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church 113 Federal Avenue Morgan City, LA from 11:00 AM until funeral services at 1:00 PM. Dr. C. F. Smith, Sr. will officiate the services. Burial will follow in the Morgan City Cemetery. One of the oldest and faithful members of the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, her favorite saying was, "My God is a ROLLING STONE, He'll Roll away your troubles and ease your worried mind." Cherished and divine memories of "Mother", as she was known, will forever be remembered by a step daughter, Beatrice Cross of Morgan City, LA and one sister, Jeanette Daniels of Franklin, LA and a host of family members with more than six generations of grandchildren; as well as several other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Anais Mitchell and Katie Williams- Mitchell; her husband, Charlie Cross; one daughter, Vealla Guidry; five sisters, Rosie Smith, Ida McGuire, Katie Brown, Irene Reedom Jones, and Linda Poole; four brothers, Thomas Mitchell, Sidney Mitchell, Clarence Mitchell and Webster Mitchell. The family wishes to give a special thank you to the nursing staff and administration of the Iberia Manor South Nursing Home. Mother left a wonderful legacy and will be greatly missed. ===================
