Sambo" Cumbest Sr., 77, a lifelong resident of Morgan City passed away on November 19, 2015 at his residence. Capt. Sambo was a very generous man who had such a giving heart and would help anyone he could. He traveled the world as a boat captain and was able to visit all seven continents. Because of his travels and adventures he was able to share so many great stories and was able to keep so many entertained with them. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Capt. Sambo is survived by his three sons: Ronald Cumbest Jr. and wife, Luann of Morgan City, Samuel Cumbest of Marianna, FL and Billy Acosta and wife, Angie of Morgan City; five daughters: Cheryl Wiggins and husband, Benny of Morgan City, Gail Freeman and husband, Keith of Morgan City, Judy Suttoon and husband, Ranney of Morgan City; Suzette Gilmore and husband, Leo of Morgan City and Jerry Jean Wiggins of Morgan City; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; two brothers: Richard W. Swain and wife, Jane of Homer Alaska and Glen Swain and wife, Betty of Morgan City; two sisters: Patricia Kiffe of Bayou Vista and Susan Burgess and husband, Greg of Houma; a very special aunt, PG Trahan and husband, CJ of Morgan City along with a host of nieces and nephews and a bull "RC3". Capt. Sambo was preceded in death by his parents, Von de Comp Cumbest and Dorothy Mae Swain; one son-in-law, Tommy Wiggins Sr.; one brother, Rodney L. Swain; one great granddaughter, Jade Wiggins; two uncles: Dan Haase and Euley Oubre Sr. along with one brother-in-law, Whalen Kiffe. A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Twin City Funeral Home beginning at 3pm until 7pm. ===================
