Lyndon Marcotte officiating. Interment will follow in Teche Gardens Cemetery in Verdunville. A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday at Ibert's from 10:00 AM until time of service. Red entered eternal life at the age of 88 on Monday, November 16, 2015, at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City. Elwood served in the United States Army, stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. As the ship he was on entered the Port of Leyte, Philippines on August 14, 1945, the loudspeaker announced Japan had surrendered and World War II was over. He worked most of his life as owner and operator of Marcotte Boat Rentals, Inc. and Marsh Buggies, Inc., servicing oilfield related businesses all throughout South Louisiana and Southeast Texas areas with tug boats, crew boats, and marsh buggies. As a young man, he began to watch and learn from his father-in-law, the late Dewey Burns, how to build wooden bateaus. From that knowledge, he became skilled in building any kind of boat, wooden or aluminum; it became natural to him. He and several of his brothers all had the talent of carpentry and could build anything, from houses, to boats and furniture. All throughout his life he enjoyed being on the water, shrimping, fishing, crabbing, and crawfishing. He became quite the cook and always enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. Elwood was born on December 12, 1926 in Charenton to the late Oneil Marcotte and the late Annis Story Marcotte. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Burns Marcotte; six brothers, McKinley, James, Ernest, Elmer, Robert, and Alvin Marcotte; and one sister, Ruth Belle Burgess. He is survived by three daughters, Patricia Lee of New Iberia, Julie Marcotte of Morgan City, and Cindy Fuhrer of Centerville; one son, Elwood Marcotte Jr. of Alexandria; and his youngest brother, Jerry Marcotte Sr. of Sorrel. He leaves behind nine beautiful grandchildren, four great grandsons, and two great great granddaughters, and a host of nieces and nephews. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Baron Trahan, Jeremy Marcotte, Zachary Fuhrer, Beau Fuhrer, Devin Trahan, and Timothy Marcotte. Honorary pallbearers will be Elwood Marcotte Jr., Jerry Marcotte Sr., Joseph Fuhrer, and Heath Prados. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc., 1007 Main Street, Franklin, LA United States Army ===================
