Visitation will be observed on Saturday December 26, 2015 at the Morning Pilgrm Baptist Church, 510 Hubertville Road in Jeanerette, LA from 8:00 AM until funeral services at 2:00 PM. Burial with full military honors will follow funeral services in the Morning Pilgrim Cemetery in Jeanerette. Wayne was a Veteran of the United States Army serving for 15 years receiving a Honorable Discharge. Memories of "Charlie", as he was known to many, will forever remain in the hearts of his loving wife, Roberta R. Charles of New Iberia, LA; two sons, Dureil J. Charles, Sr. (fiancé' Darrilyn) and DeVonte' J. Charles both of Jeanerette, LA; one daughter, LaCauncia Charles Mallery (Calvin) of St. Martinville, LA; his mother, Viola F. Charles of Jeanerette, LA; two brothers, Darnell Charles of Jeanerette, LA and Orson Gibson (Carla) of New Iberia, LA; two sisters, Vanessa C. Castillo (Ellis) of Jeanerette, LA and Shelia C. Fontenette (Larry, Sr.) of Port Arthur, TX; a step-sister, Alice Mae Charles of New Orleans, LA; eight grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Robbie Riggs of Houston, TX; seven sisters-in-law, one brother-in-aw and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Albert Charles, Jr.; two brother, Gregory P. Charles and Michael W. Charles; two sisters, Debra C. Harding and Janice Charles; his grandparents, Nancy & Johnny Fisher and Leotha B. & Albert Charles and also by his father-in-law, Robert Riggs and a mother-in-law, Mary W. Moncriffe.
