Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2015/sm1512.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Oliver "Joe" Joseph Roy, will be held on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 11:00 am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson, with burial following in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Fr. Angelo Cremaldi will be the Celebrant for the Mass. A gathering of family and friends will be on Sunday, December 27, 2015 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Ibert's Mortuary in Patterson. The recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 6:00pm. Visitations will resume at the St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday at 9:00 am until time of the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Howard Ohmer, Sterling Roy, Johnny Roy, Randy Carroll, Russell Cuvillier, and Tommy Murray. Oliver "Joe" Joseph Roy, 74, was called to be with the Lord, on December 20, 2015, at Grand Cove Nursing Rehabilitation Center in Lake Charles. Joe was born on July 26, 1941 to Oliver and Edna Roy in Patterson, La., but later moved to Sulphur, La. He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather. He loved gardening, landscaping, cooking, spending time with family, friends and taking care of people. Joe was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson, the Knights of Columbus, Woodman of the World and a coach for his Special Olympian granddaughter, Jelena. He also attended Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Sulphur with his daughter. Joe was a dog lover, who raised Bassett hounds, geese, ducks and rabbits. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all. He is survived by one daughter, Lydia Carroll and her husband Randy of Sulphur; one son, Raymond Oliver Roy and his wife Lynne Marie of Bossier City; two brothers, Sterling L. Roy and his wife Ginger of Bayou Vista , Johnny I. Roy and his wife Carolyn of Houma; two sisters, Onealia Ragin and her husband Richard "Dickie" of Youngsville, Shirley Ohmer and her husband Cleveland of Amelia; a sister-in-law, Linda Roy of Troy, AL; two grandsons, his special granddaughter, Jelena Ann Carroll who was the light of his life, his god- daughter, Phyllis Ohmer and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jelena Ann Roy; his parents, Oliver and Edna Roy; one son, Kenneth Howard Roy; brothers, Howard Roy, Adam Henry and his wife Nettie and Earl W. Roy.
