"Jocko" Charpentier will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Baldwin during a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian burial. He will be laid to rest in the Sacred Heart Cemetery Mausoleum. Father Cedric Sonnier will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Ernest J. Romero Jr., Edwin J. Doucet, Hughey L. Hargis, Brandon J. Romero, Bradley J. Daigle, and W.R. Holman. A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM led by Fr. Sonnier. Visitations will resume Wednesday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church at 8:00 AM and continue until time of Mass. Mr. Shanley was a native of Adeline and a 39 year resident of Baldwin. He passed away at the age of 82 on Sunday, January 24, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family. He dedicated over 30 years of faithful service to Columbian Chemicals until retiring at age 55 and enjoyed retired life to the fullest for the past 27 years. Some of his favorite pastimes were working in his yard, playing his guitar, and visiting with family and friends. Many will remember him from his many years as owner/operator of Happy Acres Mobile Home Park in Baldwin. Survivors include his wife, Lota "Totsie" O'Brien Charpentier; his children, Jody Charpentier, Jan C. Romero and her husband Ernest; Tammy C. Doucet and her husband Edwin; Trudy C. Hargis and her husband Hughey, Brenda Amy and her husband Eddie, Eugene Pat O'Brien and his wife Joy, Jonathan Perry O'Brien, and Denny O'Brien; daughter-in-law, Belinda W. Charpentier; his sisters, Betty Kern and Earline Dupre; his brothers, JC, Hillary, Shelton, and Marshall Charpentier; his grandchildren, Brandon J. Romero, Renee N. Romero, Jaret L. Migues, Carley C. Rousse, Dusti L. Hargis, Tonie H. Knapp, Lance Hebert, Claude Hebert, Brendan Botts, Eugene Botts, Ryan O'Brien, Jacob O'Brien, Allison Adams, Shawn O'Brien, and Caleb O'Brien; as well as numerous great grandchildren, family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Signorelli Charpentier; his son, Gene Michael Charpentier; his step-son, Brian O'Brien; his parents, Elle Charpentier and Venida Bourque Charpentier; his brother, Leroy Charpentier; his sister, Marguerite C. Daigle; his granddaughter, Tana L. Migues; and his great granddaughter, Kenzie L. Migues. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Franklin Home Care, Heart of Hospice, and Milissa Guillot for the loving and compassionate care given to Mr. Shanley and his family.
