A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Jamie adored his family and they were the center of his attention. Jamie had many hobbies and talents like traveling the backroads, seeing scenic highways, and serene bayous. At home, he enjoyed sitting on his deck and looking on the bayou. A music lover, he was often heard humming and whistling and was an excellent dancer and was even titled the 'Jitterbug King' in high school. There wasn't an instrument that Jamie couldn't play. Jamie owned and operated an Napa auto parts business for over 50 years, Himel Motor Supply. "Hey, Hots!" was how Jamie greeted his friends…and everyone was his friend. He'd never met a stranger in his life. Jamie was known for being a very positive and optimistic individual. Jamie proudly served in the United States Air Force and fought in the Korean War. He held a deep comradery and respect for his fellow Veterans and Military Men. Jamie loved and lived life to the fullest, "Living Large and taking charge." He will be deeply missed by his family but never ever forgotten. He was their Hero. The family requests that visitation be observed on Jamie's 85th birthday, January 10th from 6pm to 9pm at Hargrave Funeral Home with a rosary being prayed at 7pm. Visitation will resume on January 11th at 9am until time of dismissal at Hargrave Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 11am at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Jamie will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Mausoleum where military honors will be rendered by The East St. Mary Veteran Funeral Squad.
