Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/stmary/obits/dateobits/2016/sm1602.htm and click on the name of interest. ========== Wayne Thomas Melancon, 67, of Beaumont, died Thursday, February 18, 2016, at Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born on November 24, 1948, to Agnes Rita Talbot and Ulysse Joseph Melancon, in Franklin, Louisiana. He was a 1967 graduate of Franklin High School and then went to work for Southern Pacific Railroad. In 1969 he was drafted in to the United States Marine Corps, where he served stateside during the Vietnam War. Upon being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, Wayne returned to work for Southern Pacific, which became Union Pacific Railroad, where he continued to work until retiring in 2011. Wayne was the type of person who never met a stranger. He loved to talk, always had a story to tell, and enjoyed cooking as well. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Those he leaves to cherish his memory include his wife, Shirleen Melancon; his son, Chad Michael Melancon and his wife, Jennifer, of Houston; brothers, Larry Melancon and his wife, Frieda, of Franklin and Ken Melancon and his wife, Jacqueline, of Victorville, California; sister, Carolyn Johnston and her husband, Tommy, of Trinity, Texas and Jan Percle and her husband, Glenn, of Marrero, Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews. A gathering of Mr. Melancon's family and friends will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Broussard's Mortuary, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont, TX. An additional gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, February 26, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Ibert's Mortuary, 1007 Main Street, Franklin. Visitations will resume Saturday, February 27, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. at the Church of the Assumption in Franklin, with a memorial Mass celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment with Military Honors will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Lloyd Benoit will conduct the services.
